The Sindhi Traveler: a blog about all things Sindhi.

About Kunal

Hello there, I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey of sharing my story. A story that’s as diverse as the tapestry of identities I hold close to my heart.

Born and raised in the picturesque landscapes of the Canary Islands, my childhood was far removed from the bustling streets of Sindh. My father, a quintessential Sindhi businessman, etched the spirit of enterprise into my earliest memories. Yet, amid the whispers of trade, I found myself curiously distant from my own culinary roots.

Ah, Sindhi food – a symphony of flavors I once couldn’t quite appreciate. But my mother, an exceptional cook, had a knack for weaving magic into her dishes. A little too well, if you ask the scales that once read 115 kilograms! The aroma of her creations held an irresistible charm that was hard to resist.

As time waltzed on, my taste buds found harmony with two Sindhi delights – Sai Bhaji and Kadhi Chawal. A transformation I could only describe as an awakening of sorts.

Growing up on an island, far from the comforts of a Sindhi diaspora, I was a Spanish Hindu before an Indian one. My journey as a first-generation degree holder in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence took me from the shores of Spain to the hallowed halls of the UK.

With every passport stamp, I gathered a bouquet of experiences, unraveling the world in more ways than one. Yet, it was in this ceaseless exploration that I found myself grappling with a singular question – how did my Sindhi story intertwine with the global narrative?

This quest led me down the rabbit hole of discovery. An odyssey into the essence of Sindhi culture, bridging the gap between my myriad identities. And as I traverse the landscape of diversity, I find myself to be a blend of it all – Spanish, European, Hindu, Buddhist, American in pop culture, yet remarkably distinct in my convictions.

So here I am, sharing the flavors of my journey, the dance of identities, and the melody of experiences that make me who I am. Join me as I explore the intricate threads of the Sindhi tapestry, a narrative that finds resonance within my heart, across borders and beyond expectations.
